Our thoughts on Table Service Restaurants
**These restaurants are the ones that run out, so if you are booking dining and you are interested in one of these, you should book right away. In some cases, these are not our favorite though, see why below.
RESORTS
Chef Mickey's: This restaurant is in the contemporary resort. The food is ok, but not the best. This is, however a fun character experience for kids because it is all the classic Disney characters. This one is 1 table service credit for all meals.
O'hana: The breakfast is okay, but it is the only character meal with Lilo and Stitch so it's a 'must do' for some. Plus, this one is in the Polynesian resort, which is nice if you want to check it out (such a great atmosphere). If the "character" experience is not as important to you, dinner (especially during the Magic Kingdom fireworks show) is fabulous! This one is 1 table service credit for all meals.
Artist Point: This restaurant is in HIGH demand because it is a fun Snow White themed dinner at the Wilderness Lodge. The food is great, the characters are fun (especially the Evil Queen), and this meal is only 1 Table Service Credit. The only negative feedback we've heard is that the portions are smaller than most of the other Disney character meals, but honestly, it was perfect for us!
The California Grill: This is a nice one for adults because it has an amazing view of the Wishes fireworks if you plan a meal at the right time (there is also a viewing platform). This restaurant is at the top of the Contemporary resort and is 2 table service credits.
Victoria and Albert's: Very expensive and very exclusive. This is a great 'special meal' for an anniversary or wedding dinner. This restaurant is at the Grand Floridian Resort and does not accept the dining plan unless you are on the "Platinum" plan.
The Hoop dee doo musical Dinner Show: This show is at Fort Wilderness. It isn't cheap, but it is sooooo much fun and is still one of our favorites even after many years. This restaurant does accept dining plans, but it is 2 table service credits and can only be used for certain seating and shows.
1900 Park Fare: (Not Currently Available) This restaurant has a few character experiences, all of which are in high demand. The Brunch has Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Tigger, and Pooh. The afternoon "Tea Party" is an Alice in Wonderland theme. And the Dinner is Cinderella, the prince, her stepsisters (they are hilarious), and the wicked stepmother. This one is in the Grand Floridian and is 1 table service credit.
MAGIC KINGDOM
Be Our Guest: This dining spot is the most high demand dining location right now. If you are interested in eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner there, you would need to move quickly once your 180 days opens up. The food is great and the atmosphere is fun, so it actually is worth the hype!
Note: For breakfast and lunch, this restaurant is only 1 Quick Service credit, so it may be worth making one or two reservations here to get a great value from those quick service dining credits! Dinner is 2 Table Service credits and includes a character interaction with Beast.
Cinderella's Royal Table: There is nothing quite like dining in the castle in Magic Kingdom. It can be pricey, but it truly is a wonderful experience all around. The character interaction with several princesses is great. This restaurant is 2 table service credits for all three meals and will run out very quickly once your 180 days hits, so don't delay!
EPCOT
Le Cellier: This is a really nice dining experience with a relaxed atmosphere and great steakhouse type of food. This restaurant is 2 table service credits (though we're not really convinced it's worth 2) and is in the Canada Pavilion.
Via Napoli: This is a fun restaurant with a family 'pizzeria' type of atmosphere. Despite the relaxed atmosphere, they have some terrific Italian food that never disappoints (especially the pizza and the calamari!). This restaurant is 1 table service credit and is located in the Italy Pavilion.
Chefs de France: This restaurant has a good selection of French cuisine that seem to appeal to just about anyone. Bonus, there are some lovely views if you catch a window seat (and sometimes you can catch the fabulous street performance). This restaurant is 1 table service credit an is located in the France Pavilion.
Rose & Crown Pub: Check out Rose & Crown for a great atmosphere and some fun fare. You can relax inside the pub or request a room outdoors and enjoy a lake view. This restaurant is 1 table service credit and is located inside the United Kingdom Pavilion.
ANIMAL KINGDOM
Tusker House: This is a Donald themed character meal (also includes Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy). It doesn't run out as fast as the others, but it does run out. This one is nice if you can get an early reservation for breakfast and be finishing up just as the park opens because it's in a good location to hop right on the Safari ride. Another perk for this restaurant is that you can book it with preferred seating for the Rivers of light show for lunch or dinner. This one is 1 table service credit.
Some folks might argue that Yak and Yeti should be on this list, but we do not agree at all. While some of the dining on this list is not the "best" dining, just the hardest to get, we are not comfortable recommending Yak and Yeti to anyone. It really is right there in the name!
HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
Hollywood & Vine: This restaurant has a character buffet for all three meals. It is just 'decent' for breakfast, but a solid option for lunch and dinner. The nice thing about this one is the Disney Junior show at breakfast, it's a lot of fun for young kids, so it may be worth only getting a 'meh' meal. Another perk for this restaurant is that you can book it with preferred seating to Fantasmic for lunch or dinner. This restaurant is 1 table service credit.
Sci-Fi Drive In: This is a relaxed fun meal with bar and grill type of food. It's nothing fancy, but it's a lot of fun to be seated in an old-fashioned car while watching kooky, old film clips of sci fi movies. This is a favorite with kids, so check out the web link to see what I mean! This restaurant 1 table service credit. Oh, and don't miss out on the fabulous milkshakes!
Roundup Rodeo BBQ: This is a great BBQ meal in the middle of all the Pixar fun. There is so much character on display that it's hard to focus on eating, but that brisket will being you back to reality!
**More information coming soon about the dining we really like (and a few reviews), but we figured that listing the hard to get ones is a great start!
